There are several photos that go with the article and Esther is highlighted in one with her solo.
She sounds great, right? Hers and Shaianne's were the solos most in tune and with most power.
We went with Grandpa and Grandma. They both very much enjoyed it, as did we.
We feel so blessed to have such talented children who strive to improve and be involved.
Good job, Esther! Funny is that song. Remember Chrystal singing it. And then we had a long disscussion about what the greatest love was...and Chrystal changed the lyrics to "learning to love your God."
ReplyDeleteI remember mom saying that learning to love yourself wasn't the greatest love of all, it was learning to love God. Mom had encouraged the change of lyrics. I can see her point, but I believe the song is about self confidence and being true to your heart, not a question of whether or not one loves God.
ReplyDeleteAnywho...Ya done great Chryster! Ha! When I talked to Grandma awhile back she mentioned this concert as her Valentine's date, so I think she enjoyed it.

Maybe one of the reasons I said that was because I hadn't yet learned to love myself. I still think that loving God is the greatest love, but I do know that the commandment to love my neighbor as myself, I often left the "myself" out of that equation. There's a difference between loving yourself and being stuck on yourself and I think I was trying to teach to avoid the latter. I think I've learned to better love myself in recent years. Esther said also that her choir teacher was trying to place the songs in a way to tell the story. So we first learn to love ourselves and that brings us to true love and marriage in the end. That's the way the songs progressed in the program.
