Night out on the town...

This week we had a nice lunch for physical facilities. We ate J-Dawgs, and it was a fun time. I got to go out on the field and also I went up to the booths. It was sweet!

It was snowing and I went for a run. I was wearing a sweatshirt and I thought it was super funny that I was wet only in some places from the snow. My whole back was dry. Why run in the snow, ya crazy? So it was cooling off that day, and I thought it would be fun to run in a cool breeze, but by the time I got set to go, it was snowing big flakes. I went anyway... My face was cold and then my legs were cold. It was fun and weird all at the same time.

This is a picture of the day after the run. (yesterday) It was snowing and the sun was shining... super cool.

During a night out on the town I got some cool socks for free... I am suuuper excited. They are nice!

Canon City Cookie Decorating

Add
This was an activity after church on Sunday.  It was a leftover Christmas cookie decorating kit.
Kira holding one that Esther decorated.
Liam hanging out under the table.  Rhett looks out for Liam.

Kira's song

Kira singing, "When I Am Baptized" at her baptism.  Both Esther and I wished she had had a microphone.  A sweet song for a sweet girl, very precious.

Kira's Baptism

It was a wonderful baptism!  Kira looked beautiful as you see!  The dress she wore in which to be baptized was made by a ward member.  The puffs of the sleeves did not prevent her from walking through the door, she didn't have to turn sideways or anything.

An (L)ittle learning goes a long way.

Kind of a random thought... I was reading a blog and I saw that someone wrote "a FHE". This makes perfect sense if you are saying "a family home evening", but it doesn't sound right if you say "a F, H, E".... is this a new activity for families? Allstar Famly Home Evening?.... So I realized that it is because the letter "f" is pronounced "eff" (is that two "effs" or one "ef", or effes....or effen? haha) So I realized that you wouldn't use the article "an" before all letters. You would say "a g" for example, not "an g".
Anyhow, Here is a list of letters for which you use "an".

an a
an e
an f
an h
an i
an l
an m
an n
an o
an r
an s
an x
(for a fun tongue twister try saying this list 3 times fast) I like how how the last half sounds...

For the rest you use "A". What is interesting is that "u" is the only vowel that doesn't use "an" for its indefinite article...."an You" or "an "Yu" or for spanish speakers "an Llu" except for those from Argentina who would say "an shu". after which I would say "bless you (yoo)" or "salud".

I just thought I would share something I learned today.

the memoir of muffins

"Everyone kept asking me if I wanted a muffin and I didn't want a muffin!!-  Colter Haderlie

So mom and dad were out. Probably buying groceries but I'm not sure. Nicolina and Mary were in charge. They collaborated together to make a wonderful breakfast. Muffins. Apricot muffins. With a mix of pureed canned apricots and oatmeal. I'm not sure at what point they realized they didn't have eggs or if they just thought they didn't need them. They didn't even have a hard boiled egg. If they did they could gave made pancakes, right mom? Well they came out of the oven not smelling half bad. But the looked all sunken and felt like rubber. Trying to act like they weren't so bad Nicolina and Mary made us eat them. Although I noticed the didn't even eat a whole one between the two of them. Injustices of older siblings. I remember Joseph  and Joshua cracking jokes about them and saying things like, "These muffins are so rubbery that you could drive over then with a tractor and they would look the same." Or  "Thanks Mary and Nicolina, now that you've made these we will never gave to stop chewing."  Oh the humor of muffins.
Those muffins were brought up quite a bit, especially by John who probably did his best to eat them but in failing I'm sure felt the pain of the loss of food.

So.. I made muffins today. Banana muffins and I didn't using a recipe.  Thinking that ie was so clever. I probably should have added one more egg.

Trying again, and I'll learn how to get it.

80th Birthday Celebration in Star Valley

We got to Star Valley on the night of Wednesday March 25th.  We told Grandma we wanted to make her a birthday breakfast the next morning.  We fixed crepes served with vanilla yogurt and fresh strawberries, along with bacon and eggs (for Grandpa :))

There was enough crust on the remaining snow that morning for Dad, Esther and James to go snowmobiling.  Esther had a thrill getting up to 75 mph.  They all got some sun on their faces from the glare of the snow.

We made an oatmeal cake for Grandma's dessert after dinner that night.  We had two candles for her to blow out.
