the memoir of muffins

"Everyone kept asking me if I wanted a muffin and I didn't want a muffin!!-  Colter Haderlie

So mom and dad were out. Probably buying groceries but I'm not sure. Nicolina and Mary were in charge. They collaborated together to make a wonderful breakfast. Muffins. Apricot muffins. With a mix of pureed canned apricots and oatmeal. I'm not sure at what point they realized they didn't have eggs or if they just thought they didn't need them. They didn't even have a hard boiled egg. If they did they could gave made pancakes, right mom? Well they came out of the oven not smelling half bad. But the looked all sunken and felt like rubber. Trying to act like they weren't so bad Nicolina and Mary made us eat them. Although I noticed the didn't even eat a whole one between the two of them. Injustices of older siblings. I remember Joseph  and Joshua cracking jokes about them and saying things like, "These muffins are so rubbery that you could drive over then with a tractor and they would look the same." Or  "Thanks Mary and Nicolina, now that you've made these we will never gave to stop chewing."  Oh the humor of muffins.
Those muffins were brought up quite a bit, especially by John who probably did his best to eat them but in failing I'm sure felt the pain of the loss of food.

So.. I made muffins today. Banana muffins and I didn't using a recipe.  Thinking that ie was so clever. I probably should have added one more egg.

  1. I remember those orange muffins. We thought we could add a little of this and a little of that and be like mom. They were gross! I think I remember us bouncing them on the ground.
Colter had it rough all around that day. After being bugged about muffins and then that incredibly hard hand shake....

  3. I thought that we should have tried to market them as the next stocking stuffers. Better than bouncy balls. They're even edible. Well .... for the most part. :)
